Use a reference source, such as a subject encyclopedia or dictionary, to help get started with your research. A reference source can help you:
- Get background information on your topic, along with some basic facts, such as names, dates, places, events.
- Identify terms and vocabulary to create well-focused searches.
- Look for bibliographies and suggested readings to locate additional resources on your topic.
Below are reference sources which cover topics relating to ecotourism. Click on the title to find each source. They can either be found in the library's reference collection or online.

Broaden your search beyond our library and use the WorldCat-OCLC catalog to search for books in libraries throughout Washington State (and worldwide). When you find a book, we can request it for you through Inter-Library Loan (ILL) and have it sent to Edmonds CC library for you to pick up. (A TIP: ILL can take up to two weeks for a book to arrive so start your research early!)
Did you know, as a student at Edmonds Community College, you can go to other community colleges in our area and check out books? You can also look for books at your local public library. (Be sure to sign up for a library card, if you don't already have one!)
