To help you determine if there are scholarly articles - research studies - written on your potential research topic. This type of article can give you some insight as to the extent and content of ongoing conversation among academic experts on your topic. These articles will provide you with the evidence you need to support your thesis.

Step 1: Watch the two videos below.
Video #1 will tell you of certain elements that characterize a scholarly article and how it is different than a non-scholarly (or popular) source.
Video #2 provides tips for setting up searches in a library database so you will get relevant results
Step 2: Apply what you learned from watching the two videos and search one or more of the library databases to find a scholarly journal article. The periodical databases are listed on the Books, eBooks and Articles page in your resource guide in the Focused Search box here. Do not use the Search Everything box on that page. For additional tips on searching a library database, go here. Read the box below with helpful suggestions.

To be successful in the assignment:
Be sure you find a research article from a scholarly/academic journal. Do not use a book review, editorial or opinion piece. If you find an article and are not sure, please email me before submitting your assignment. If you do not use a scholarly/academic journal article, you will not receive any credit for this assignment.
Be sure you are searching in one of the library periodical databases listed in the Focused Search box on your resource guide. Do not use One Search or one of the open access journals or Google.
You must have the full text of the article. Not every article in the library databases have the full text attached. Be sure to check the box in the database for "full text" to ensure you have the full article.
