Search tips

When searching a periodical database, your goal is to get a reasonable number (around 50) of highly relevant articles.  To do this, use the Advanced Search feature to combine the name of your artist with and other descriptive words.  For example:

•  georgia o'keefe AND landscape

•  jacob lawrence AND harlem renaissance

•  picasso AND paintings

TIP:  After you type the name of your artist in the box, change the drop down menu on the right to "Person" or "People"

Other ways to focus your searches:

√ Check the box that will limit your results to academic journals only

√ Check the box that will limit your results to full-text articles only

Use their "Suggested Topics" or "Find More Like This" feature
