SHS 230 - Pre-Practicum - Deep Dive to Investigate Potential Practicum Sites: Find Information About Agencies and Organizations

Take a deep dive into these resources to to find information beyond the websites of your agencies and organizations.

Organizational and Financial Information:

Use Mergent Intellect to find out the financial status of your provider and/or agency/organization. Most of the listings include financial and leadership information as well as relationships to other organizations.

Agency/Provider Finder and Licensure Verification:

Does the agency have a required license and is it current?  Use the State of Washington's database to confirm the status of their licenses for all of their programs and services.  Does they have any "Enforcement Actions" against them?

Accreditation Status:

Does the agency/organization have the required accreditation and are they in good standing with the required accreditation standards?  Use the resources below to confirm their accreditation status.

Company Reviews:

What do former and current employees have to say about the Agencies?  Use the Company Reviews in Indeed.com to ready what employees have to say.

Information in the News (Use Library Databases):

Use these two library databases to look for news information about your provider, agency, and/or organization.  Have they been in the news? If so, what have they done, what has been said about them, and how does that information impact your interest in completing a practicum at their site.

Off-Campus Access to Databases:

Current Edmonds College students, faculty and staff can access library databases from off-campus using their Triton ID.
