Q: The activation instructions aren't working for me. How can I get help?
A: See this page for all the ways you can contact an Edmonds College librarian for help.
Q: I have an existing NYT account and when I go to the links to sign up, it defers to that account. What can I do?
A: You can use a device or browser that has not previously been logged in to your personal account and follow the activation instructions in that browser or device. After you successfully create your Edmonds account, you can log out of your existing personal account in your app or the website and then re-login with your new Edmonds account. You can also cancel your subscription and delete your NYT account on your current device, and then follow the activation instructions.
Q: I've previously used my @student.edmonds.edu or @edmonds.edu account to make an NYT account and the instructions aren't working for me. What do I do?
A: If you are already a subscriber with your Edmonds email or if you have previously created an NYT account with your Edmonds email, you must cancel your subscription and delete your NYT account before attempting to activate the free access.
Q: How can I have access to the NYT Apps?
A: These apps are available for download:
Log in to all apps with your NYT Account (Triton Email and password you chose during activation).
Q: How can I reduce the number of emails I receive from the New York Times?
A: When you activate your account, the settings include email newsletters from the NYT. To unsubscribe from these newsletters, go to Account > Your Content > Newsletters and click Remove for any newsletters that you don't want to receive via email. You can also opt out of marketing communications on that page.
Q: I'm getting push notifications I don't want. How can I adjust my app notifications?
A: In the app, tap the account icon in the upper right. Tap View All Notifications to see settings and adjust them.
Q: Doesn't the library already have the New York Times?
A: The library has current access to text-only of articles (no images, interactives, audio, etc.) through ProQuest. NYT All Access gives a much larger range of content, in a user-friendly app or online format. The library will continue to have access to the historical archives of the New York Times from 1851-2007 in ProQuest Historical Newspapers: New York Times.
Q: I don't want to sign up for an account. Can I still access the New York Times?
A: NYT All Access requires creating an NYT account with your Triton Email (@student.edmonds.edu). If you do not want to do that, we have access to some articles through ProQuest and ProQuest Historical Newspapers: New York Times. You can access these databases from on campus or from off-campus using your Triton ID and password without creating a NYT account.
Q: How often do I need to reactivate my account?
A: Students will choose a graduation year during the activation process. Accounts will stay active until this date. Faculty and staff must renew annually.
