Open educational resources provide a way for students to learn and faculty to teach with materials that are no/low cost and allow for re-use and re-purpose by others. In addition to saving students the high costs of expensive textbooks, they allow for greater faculty control over course texts and materials. The use of OER also provides opportunities for students and faculty to contribute to and build on these existing texts and materials.
